Scott received his B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Georgia (1991) and his J.D., cum laude, from Wake Forest University (1995).
Scott began his practice with Alston & Bird LLP in Atlanta, where he focused on corporate transactions, specifically mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and public and private offerings of securities. He represented both strategic and financial buyers and sellers of businesses, as well as both issuers and underwriters in public and private offerings.
Scott’s career also included serving as a Vice President in the Corporate Finance Department of The Robinson-Humphrey Company (now SunTrust Robinson Humphrey) and as a General Partner of R-H Capital Partners, L.P., an in house private equity fund.
In addition to his practice with Cheeley Law Group, Scott continues as Managing Partner of Toxaway Capital Partners, an Atlanta based investment partnership that makes controlling investments in middle market businesses. He is a Director of Pharos Marine Automatic Power, Inc. (Houston, TX), Pharos Marine, Ltd. (United Kingdom), AB Pharos Marine Pte. Ltd. (Singapore) and TWR Lighting, Inc. (Houston, TX).
Scott’s extensive transaction experience provides a valuable complement to the litigation experience of the other Cheeley Law Group attorneys. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in transactions with an aggregate value in excess of $5,000,000,000.
